Melody In A Coffee Shop

Prefer loneliness, a quiet place,
A cup of tea, and a piece of paper,
No disturbances;
My thoughts chaotic,
Vocalists alongside instruments,

Can’t put my finger on it,
Something about the melody of country music,
An artist rhyming a hundred words per minute,
Able to imagine sunrises and sunsets,
In a coffee shop,
It is blissful,
Peaceful,

All of the distractions,
Hallucinations,
Can’t steal the spotlight,
I’m too busy,
Staying in the moment,

Prefer loneliness, a quiet place,
A cup of tea, and a piece of paper,
No disturbances;
My thoughts chaotic,
Vocalists alongside instruments,

Believe me they try,
Sitting provocatively,
Reading an excerpt from Assata Shakur’s autobiography,
Can’t deny the fact,
It threatens my reality,

As if I could join hands with Mandela,
Meet Malcolm in Harlem,
They live rent free,
No matter how far I walk,
What radio station I listen to,

Prefer loneliness, a quiet place,
A cup of tea, and a piece of paper,
No disturbances;
My thoughts chaotic,
Vocalists alongside instruments,

At least it is better,
Compared to leaving me stranded,
With my vices,
Like in Cast Away,

Better to walk with limp,
Instead of needing a wheelchair,
Rather work with dusty hands,
Instead of turning into Captain Hook,

Prefer loneliness, a quiet place,
A cup of tea, and a piece of paper,
No disturbances;
My thoughts chaotic,
Vocalists alongside instruments,
