Morning Routine

Every morning, I go through the same routine,
It isn’t extravagant, just a reminder,
To myself, so I don’t forget,
How lucky I am,

Knowing I gotta’ leave you by yourself,
Caressing your cheek with my hand,
Praying God watches over you,
Hoping you’ll miss me,

Wishing you were sleeping under my shirt,
As I put on my socks, pants, and shirt,
Taking a look over my shoulder,
Still curled up with eyes closed,

About to leave,
Almost forgot my phone,
Only to remember,
You deserve another kiss,

Every morning, I go through the same routine,
It isn’t extravagant, just a reminder,
To myself, so I don’t forget,
How lucky I am,
