A Different Me (Islam & Indonesia)

Hearing ٱلصَّلَوةُ خَيْرٌ مِن النَّوم every morning,
Waking up to the sound of the azzan,
It holds, speaks to, and comforts,
My soul, My heart, and My Mind,

Indonesia is diverse in practitioners,
Some practice and know the difference,
Between haram and halal,
While a few may wear tight clothing,
Show off certain body parts,

All of this eludes me,
Only one fact should be known,

Indonesians are funny but lovable,
Yes, quite a few Americans are Muslim,
Just because I come from Amriki doesn’t mean,
I have a lot of money so treat me as your brother,

For the sisters who see a bule (white) person,
You don’t need to go crazy,
Have standards,
Not every white person is worth the trouble,

In the end,
This country has spoken,
Be happy in lieu of all realities,
Whether you are poor, hungry, or tired,

My deen has started to eclipse the sun,
Praying five times a day,
Surrounded by beauty,
Sabir I repeat to myself,
