My Type of Woman

Love freely holding your middle finger up,
Whether others approve or not,

Needed someone just as loud,
Not afraid of being called ‘a loud black woman’,
My lady isn’t afraid of being called a ‘tomboy’,
She calls people out who cut in line,
Not afraid to demand an apology,

If a man stares,
She isn’t afraid to ask,
‘You got a problem’,

My lady takes being called a ‘bitch’,
As an accomplished feat,
Means she stood her ground,
Voiced her opinions,
Said ‘fuck it’ to gender roles,

Kind of lady I needed,
Someone who jumps and wrestles me to the ground,
Starts a food fight,
Leaves a bruise on my neck,
Before I drive to work,

Kind of lady I needed,
Willing to wear Converse shoes to a wedding,
Flip-flops to a black and white tie dinner,
Ask me to dance if no one is using the dance floor,
Practices twerking while shopping at Walmart,

Willing to call out my parents,
Reprise Bonnie and Clyde,
Ask me to join her in a fitting room,
Play with our food at fancy restaurants,

See a celebrity pay kids 20 dollars,
Watch and record as they catapult water balloons,
Drive through the bible belt,
Not afraid to stop in order to pray to God,

Someone has a problem pull out her lady pistol,
Willing to play street fighter,
Chance for my wifey to practice Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu,

Love freely holding your middle finger up,
Whether others approve or not,
