حمزة (The Strong And Steadfast)

Not many know him,
Some have seen him,
Few have met him,

If it matters,
Maybe it doesn’t,
But I hope it counts,
Every-time I pray,
He has a spot reserved,

Just as Abu Bakr (ra) was to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh),
So is the rain to a drought filled season,
Explaining this is like explaining astrophysics,
You could read an encyclopedia and never understand,

When a single act can split friendship,
As the one who speaks,
His or tongue sharper than a thorn,

“A person is likely to follow the faith of his friend so look whom you befriend.”
[Bukhari and Muslim. See Sharh al-Sunnah, 1/49, Kitab al-iman, bab halawat al-iman]

If not for his criticisms,
I would be far from upright,
Many acquittances pretending to care,
Easily making light of faults,

“Anyone who criticizes you cares about your friendship.
Anyone who makes light of your faults cares nothing about you.”
[Abu Dawud, Hasan Hadith]

Every-time in need,
One needs to be reminded,
Do not be sad nor afraid,

The Most Wise,
The Most Loving,

Protector,
Comforter,

Well aware of our situation…

Such a companion,
Within the confines of a cave,
Must we not strive,
Achieve such companionship,

“Allah did indeed help him (Muhammad) when the disbelievers drove him out.
The second of the two, when they (Muhammad and Abu Bakr) were in the cave,
And he (saws) said to his companion,
‘Be not sad (or afraid), surely Allah is with us’.”
(Al-Qur’an 9:40)

Without doubt,
Best of companions,
Friend who reminds you,

“I am with you whether you are alive or dead”,

No envy between one another…
Keeping promises between each other…

Sufyan ath-Thawri (d.164H) said,

“Do not make a promise to your companion and then break it, so that love turns to hate.”
