Pure Islam: Refutation Against Terrorism

Islam or Muslims?
Which one deserves blame?
Instead of naming names,
Let us seek advice,
Instead of ignorance,
Do not be surprised,

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was sent,
His job to perfect the best of manners,
While multiple enemies approached,
Attacking from all sides,

To the North disbelievers,
To the East extremists,
To the West hypocrites,
To the South apologetics,

Forgetfulness has taken affect…

Luqman once said to his son,
“O my son: Let your speech be good and your face be smiling;
You will be more loved by the people than those who give them provisions.”

(Mentioned in the stories of Ibn Kathir)

It doesn’t matter how much Muslims donate,
It doesn’t matter how many people Muslims help,
It doesn’t matter how many Muslims enlist,

We will never be loved by mankind,
We will always be despised by some,

This is why Allah (s.w.t) recommended to walk a certain way,
“And turn not your face away from men with pride,
Nor walk in insolence through the earth.
Verily, Allah likes not any arrogant boaster.”

(Surah Luqman:18)

Muslims react full of pride,
Allah (s.w.t) promised,
Thorns will be felt under our feet,
Even if we walk sincerely,
We will be hated,

Did Islam not arrive as a stranger?
Nor will Islam leave as a stranger?

Whether ISIS or Al-Qaeda,
Whether Boko Haram or FPI,
Whether KKK or Nazi Skin-heads,

All of these groups have something in common…

Allah (s.w.t) sent down orders,
“O you who believe! Let not a group scoff at another group,
It may be that the latter are better than the former.
Nor let (some) women scoff at other women,
It may be that the latter are better than the former.”

(Surah Hujrat, 11)

It confuses me when Muslims act surprised,
Even those who are sincere shouldn’t be confused,
Isn’t Racism alive?
Does it not have room to breathe in Muslim communities?
No matter how righteous you act,
Reasons can be found why pedestrians are acting strange,

Muslims have been insulting one another,
Labeling one another,
Insulting each other,
Doing the same in regards to non-Muslims,
Without doubt this is where evil spread,

“…Nor defame yourselves,
Nor insult one another by nicknames.
Evil is the name of wickedness after faith.
And whosoever does not repent,
Then such are indeed wrongdoers.”

(Surah Hujrat: 11)

Muslims including myself,
Have resorted to the same tactic as Non-Muslims,
Insult, Interrogate, and injury,
Suspicion drives sanity,
Examples of Muslims and Non-Muslims killed over SUSPICION,

How many Muslims and Non-Muslims were given a fair trial?
How many Muslims and Non-Muslims received fair treatment?
Were four witnesses present?
Was Fiqh applied where Shariah dictates?

“O you who believe!
Avoid much suspicion;
Indeed some suspicion is sin.
And spy not,
Neither backbite one another.
Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother?
You would hate it.
And have Taqwa of Allah.
Verily, Allah is the One Who forgives and accepts repentance,
Most Merciful.”

(Hujrat 49:12)

Have of we not become forceful?
When brothers spot a sister not wearing hijab,
Automatically questioning integrity,
Did you think about her safety?
Have we not become forceful?
ISIL members hold a knife ready to strike,
Did they not realize Allah (s.w.t),
Is the One who forgives and accepts repentance?

How come we have ignored forgiveness?
How come we have ignored kinship?
Are we not all from Adam (ra)?
Are we not all Allah’s (s.w.t) creation?

Imagine the gates of Paradise opened two days a week,
As long as every servant of Allah (s.w.t) associates nothing will Allah (s.w.t),
He or she will be forgiven,
Except for the brothers or sisters who hold grudges against another,
And these two will not enter Paradise until reconciliation is upon them,

According to Abu Hurayrah (ra),
Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him said) said:

“The gates of Paradise will be opened on Mondays and on Thursdays,
And every servant [of Allah] who associates nothing with Allah will be forgiven,
Except for the man who has a grudge against his brother.
[About them] it will be said:
‘Delay these two until they are reconciled;
Delay these two until they are reconciled.’”

[Muslim (also by Malik and Abu Dawud)]

Would forgiveness not heal wounds?
Would forgiveness not bring together humanity?
Would ISIL not have strength if forgiveness won?
Would extremists not have power if forgiveness spread?

Are believers not but a brotherhood?
If not for Mercy would we be granted Paradise?
“So have Taqwa of Allah and settle all matters of difference among you,
And obey Allah and His Messenger, if you are believers.”

(Surah Aanfal:1)

We live in a time of Ignorance,
Muslims not the same caliber as the first generation,
Here is a scenario that would change the hearts of millions,
Examples of forgiveness, kindness, and tenderness,

An old woman left her home,
She needed groceries,
Making her way down the street,
Words of disapproval of Islam,
Negative reactions and distaste,

Believing Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was a fraud,
Within blocks a Muslim requested if she needed help,
She said yes but didn’t know who this person was,
Only until she was at the grocery store,
Did she inquire about his name,

After speaking ill of Islam,
Not wanting to give up old customs and practices,
This old woman learned who the man was,
She retraced her steps accepting Islam,

This is the story of Islam…
This is the story of Muslims and Non-Muslims…
This is the story no one wants to hear…
This is the story no one wants heard…
