Friday Night Lights In Paradise

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh

We live in a dark time causing us to seek ‘light’ from different sources whether friends, family, success, degrees, jobs, paychecks, exciting trips, and/or movies. The problem with all these sources is that they end, die, or come to a halt. None of them are permanent. None of them can provide a steady and sustainable light.

Allah (s.w.t) is the only source of light that cannot be extinguished.

“Allah is The Light of the Heavens and The Earth!” (Qur’an 24:35)

Not only is He a source of light but also beauty, love, and mercy. Allah (s.w.t) divided His mercy into 100 parts, He kept 99 and gave creation one of them. The mercy that we see throughout our lives from beginning to the end of times is from Allah (s.w.t).

Which makes me question why we choose to give up or lose hope if His mercy is 99 times more potent than what we witness on earth?

Allah (s.w.t) is the source of everything. He is the Beginning and the End. He is the First and the Last. He is the only One who will be with you while everyone else leaves you as you are lowered in your grave.

Allah (s.w.t) is Greater than anything He has created. No matter how much light you find none comes near to the Light of His Face. He created us for Himself; to worship Him, know Him, love Him, adore Him, and create a bond with Him.

We have to make a choice between right and wrong. Between sincerity (true love) or following temptation. We can choose to indulge in distractions or choose to remember Him.

“Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds – the Most Merciful will appoint for them love.” (Qur’an 19: 96)

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) demonstrated this verse to a stranger…

“A man was with the Prophet (ﷺ) and a man passed by him and said: Messenger of Allah! I love this man. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) then asked: Have you informed him? He replied: No. He said: Inform him.” [Sunan Abi Dawud]

We are supposed to act upon our beliefs including love. It must be transmitted to people.

“Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them – so worship Him and have patience for His worship. Do you know of any similarity to Him?” (Qur’an 19:65)

“It is He who created the heavens and earth in six days and then established Himself above the Throne. He knows what penetrates into the earth and what emerges from it and what descends from the heaven and what ascends therein; and He is with you wherever you are. And Allah, of what you do, is Seeing.” (Qur’an 57: 4)

Allah has shown us the way. Now, we need to put our trust in Him.

Speak to Him. Ask of Him.

“O Allah! Place light in my heart, light in my hearing, light in my sight, light on my right, light on my left, light in front of me, light behind me, light above me, light below me, make light for me.” (Sahih Muslim)
