How You Can Tell If Your Man Loves You

50 Days and 50 Nights,
Imagine not being spoken to by those who love you,
Just because you avoided dying with them,
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) explained a believer is like a building,
Whose different parts are enforced by another,
Whether your my uncle, auntie, brother, sister, mother, or father,
Treat me like your foundation,
Something you’ll buy, something you’ll keep safe,

Call me old-fashioned, I ain’t afraid of fundamental character flaws,
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) took a child in his lap for Tahnik,
Child urinated on him, so he asked for water and poured it over the stain,
Told to respect and protect, no matter innocent mistakes made,
Reading stories of his will, of his smile,
He used to mix with companions to the extent that he said to a younger brother,
‘O father of ‘Umair! What did An-Nughair do?

Allah (s.w.t) beautified His creation,
Bedouin approached and accused,
‘You kiss the boys! We don’t kiss them.’
Prophet Muhammad’s (pbuh) replied,
‘I cannot put mercy in your heart,
After Allah has taken it away.’

I’m simply asking for you to love me,
Not adjacent, only complacent,
On Friday while the Prophet (pbuh) delivered a Khutba,
He invoked rain upon the city,
Watching rain soak Al-Madina,
Raining heavily,
People demanded another miracle,
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) invoked rain,
Raining carefully instead of heavily,

Carefully reading his words,
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) came to some of his wives,
Among whom was Umm Sulaim,
May Allah be Merciful to you, o Anjasha!
Drive the camels slowly,
As they are carrying glass vessels!’

Metaphorically speaking,
Tendencies replaced memories,
His mind spoke in metaphors,
Women compared to glass vessels,
Poetry contains wisdom,
Wisdom does not cause wealth to accumulate,
Wealth accommodates mercy if humility speaks compassionately,
Do they think that We enlarge them in wealth and children…
And they have other deeds, besides, which they are doing.’ (V.2:55-63)

I am not blind,
Only wide-eyed, never missing a beat,
Hoping one day for my heart to skip beats so my mind rests in peace,
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) watched a rich man’s funeral procession,
Companions proclaimed wealth causes a lady’s hand to be accepted,
Another funeral procession passed belonging to a poor Muslim,

Companions diagnosed faulty premises,
If he should ask for a lady’s hand in marriage, no one will accept him,
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) interrupted,
‘This poor man is better than such a large number of the first type,
As to fill the earth.’

No matter if an old man urinates on the side-walk,
Can’t blame he who loses sanity,
Allah (s.w.t) judges the years of sanity,
Bedouin urinated in the mosque and people ran to beat him,
Allah’s Messenger (pbuh) said, ‘Do not interrupt his urination.’

Choose who I love,
Lay with you nightly, ask questions daily,
‘Allah is He Who makes (whom He wills) laugh,
And makes (whom he wills) weep.’ (V.53:43)

Allah’s Messenger (pbuh) addressed a woman in a yellow dress,
‘May you live so long that your dress gets worn out,
And you will mend it many times,
And then wear another till it gets worn out.’

Day after day I wish to dream as he did,
Allah’s Messenger (pbuh) visited Umm Haram bin Milhan,
She was the wife of Ubada bin As-Samit,
One day the Prophet (pbuh) visited and she provided food,
Started searching for lice,
Allah’s Messenger (pbuh) slept and afterwards woke up smiling,

Nightly watching an Angel carry you across meadows,
Allah’s Messenger (pbuh) told Aisha (ra),
‘You were shown to me twice in my dream,
Behold, a man was carrying you in a silken piece of cloth,
She is your wife, so uncover her,’ and behold,
It was you. I would then say to (myself),
‘If this is from Allah, then it must happen.’

Can’t get past the day, it felt like yesterday,
Broken days, feels like you belong to me forever,
No fairy-tale, my heart torn into pieces,
Picked up by a stranger,
I can’t stop loving you,
When you smile it makes my fingers twitch,
Takes my breath away,
Wrap me up in your warmth,
Lets fade away…
