Heartbeat of a Pen

Ask for a lifetime,
I only need one moment,

You don’t need Days,
Or years,
God knew from the start,
Every decision you would make,

Listening to you speak,
Letters play hopscotch,
My ears pay attention,
Jump-ropes hitting pavement,
Syllable stresses move mountains,

Dreaming of holding you,
Summer days dancing with you,
Rain writing our vows crying with you,
Standing in the middle of a storm shivering with you,
Wrapping blankets around your torso sleeping with you,
Face painting murals in the clouds laughing with you,
The sky our canvas till the end laying with you,

Call it immaturity,
Life coming to an end,
We don’t know when it will come,
Knowing we walk side by side,
Is all I fight for…
